Be a Godly Example to those Around You 

With television and other forms of mass media today, our children see all types of people acting out various types of behaviors displayed openly in public.  It goes without saying that anyone who is blessed with the opportunity to raise a child must put a watch over these outside influences, and be a type of guardian of the faith in protecting the children. 

We may think that once the TV is off or that questionable music CD has been discarded that all things are safe on the home front, and that may very well be.  However, one of the greatest influences on our children may be going unchecked.  Do you know what that is?  US!  What type of example are we?  What words do we speak and how do we act and react around the children? 

Children watch us and will imitate what they see.  We don’t want our kids acting out on the playing field the way some athletes do.  Do we want them to learn how to speak to their future spouse by the way we talk to ours?  Are the words “I love you” part of daily conversation in your household?  Is the Word of God your greatest help in raising your children? 

Jesus said in John 13:15, “For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.”  Jesus showed us and spoke to us by example, how we are to conduct ourselves.  Leave that same legacy to your children as you lead them by Christ’s example.
