Are You a Willing Laborer?

Verse of the Month

“I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” (Philippians 3:14 NLT)

August 22nd – 31st, 2017

Scripture Reading: Luke 10:1-2

Are You a Willing Laborer?

What were you doing for the Lord at this time last year?  Since that time, has your service to the Lord increased, decreased, or stayed the same?

In the work force, we go through stages.  The first stage is when we are younger.  We work regular hours plus overtime and weekends to save for later years.  As we get older we cut back on the overtime, then just before retirement cut back to only five days a week, eight hours a day.  In short we kind of “wind down”.

Our life in Christ goes through stages as well.  We learn so we can work and work effectively.  Then we work diligently every day of our life on this earth until our course is finished.  There is no cutting back or retirement!

Each day of our lives, we should be stepping out, stepping forward and “pressing toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14)

How is your service to the Lord this year compared to last year?  Are you pressing forward?  Have you found yourself to be a willing laborer?  If not it’s not too late to join the work force for Christ.

“…look on the fields; for they are white already to the harvest.”
(John 4:35)
