A Lamb for Christmas

Verse of the Month

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder:  and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor.  The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

Scripture Reading:  Isaiah 53:4-6

A Lamb for Christmas

If we were to look into the past, I can envision the prophets of old rejoicing when their messages of hope finally transpired with the birth of Jesus.  Oh what a glorious day.

The love and compassion of God shined forth on all flesh as He provided a way for the remission of sin through the birth of a baby. He sent Jesus, born of a virgin who would become the ultimate sacrifice for all mankind.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
(John 3:16)

As we continue in our lesson this month by asking, “What Christmas means  to God”, our answer can be found in the gift called eternal life.  Should we accept that precious gift from our Heavenly Father, it is one that will last for all eternity.

The birth of Jesus Christ was about the rebuilding of personal relationships, and that is what Christmas means to God - Family.

Believers celebrate Christmas because of the birth of Jesus, but in reality Christmas provided us with a spotless lamb who would become the sacrifice for sin to be crucified on a cross. (jw/cw)

“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for
 our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
 and with his stripes we are healed.

 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:4-6)
