What Christmas Means to God

Verse of the Month

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor.
The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
 (Isaiah 9:6 NKJV)

Scripture Reading:  Isaiah 9:1-7

What Christmas Means to God

Christmas means a lot of things to a lot of people. Ask children and they will tell you it is a time for presents by that’s not exactly how adults view this busy holiday season.

It’s about stress for those rushing to shop.  A time of family traditions, lights, trees and will there be snow?  Maybe that’s a little insight of what Christmas means to you, but what does the event we call “Christmas” mean to God?

It’s Prophecy Fulfilled

For God Christmas was a way for prophecy to be fulfilled. It means that His Word is true and what He says will come to pass.
Through the prophets, God had sent a this message of hope that a Messiah would come.  We can read about this in the book of Isaiah.

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given:
and the government shall be upon His shoulder:
and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor.
The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end,
upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom to order it,
and to establish it with judgment and justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:6-7)

The birth of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, was foretold in Isaiah, but fulfilled according to the scriptures in Luke chapter 2.  In reality Christmas to us is physical proof that prophecy has been fulfilled, but to God it means His children can one day come home because the One and only Savior was born.
