When All You Can Do Is Cry

Trying to be a devoted wife Lily stepped into the church to attend the funeral service of her brother-in-law.  Sitting in the last pew of a little home-garage church, this young Jewish folk singer felt the shame it would bring to her family by merely being in the building where the name of Jesus was mentioned.

Though feeling unsettled, for the first time in her life she experienced the presence of God.  The preacher spoke that everyone had sinned against God and needed to seek forgiveness.  Lily was confused not knowing that she was lost or had even sinned.

“…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
(Romans 3:23 NKJV)

“… There is no difference between people. Because all people have sinned, they have fallen short of God’s glory.” (ERV)

No matter what translation you use or way you look at it, everyone has sinned against the Lord in some manner.

Leaning against the wooden pew, the peace of God flooded her emotions.  Not knowing what to say, she quietly got down on her knees and began to pray.

As the tears flowed, Lily cried her way through to the Lord and received Yeshua as her Savior knowing it would sever her family ties.  Without words God understood her tears and repentant heart.

There comes a time in our lives when we realize that what we’re in search of has nothing to do with “things”, but the need of a Savior.  Lily Isaacs came to that realization; through all her brokenness and tears God forgave her.

Since that night in the little home-church, Lily’s life has never been the same.  God continues to bless her as she professes the name of Jesus through testimony and song.

Maybe you’re at that point of brokenness and all you can do is cry.  Even if you don’t understand give Jesus your heart.  Ask Him to change you and put you back in right standing with Him.

God sees the broken heart and is eager to forgive your sin.   Put your faith in Jesus Christ today; He will have compassion and show mercy. (cw)

“That is why the Lord says, turn to me now, while there is time.
Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning.
Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.
Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent
and not punish. (Joel 2:12-13 NLT)
