“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”  (John 16:33 NKJV)

Be of Good Cheer 

No matter where we turn it seems the “big” media story of the day is always bad, discouraging and sometimes depressing news.  So how in the world are we to be of good cheer with all this negativity?  Those who put their trust in the Lord know something that others don't. 

When everything seemed to be going wrong with Jesus being arrested and beaten, He still gave words of hope and encouragement to His disciples - "Be of good cheer" - Why?  He had overcome the things of this world. 

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”  (John 16:33 NKJV) 

You see it came as no surprise to Jesus concerning what was going to happen on the cross.  God knows all things from beginning to end.  Jesus knew there would be a great outcome and He was right, having conquered the grave. 

Whatever you are facing right now, bring your concerns to the Lord in prayer.  Be of good cheer in looking forward to the promise of how Jesus will deliver you.  Hold on by faith knowing He is able. (cw)
