Verse of the month
“I will lift up
my eyes to the hills. From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the LORD, Who
made heaven and earth.”
Psalm 121:1-2

What's
Different About You?
Believers
in Christ are spirit born and since that means we have the Holy Spirit living inside
us we are to look, act and walk differently than the world. Let me ask
you these few questions.
-
Is
your speech different than the worlds?
-
How
about your personal dress code or entertainment choices?
-
Do
you look and act so much like the world that no one can tell that you are a
believer?
Our
beliefs and morals should not reflect the world but Christ, when they do we end
up playing church and aren't the true church. When the “world” sees us they
should see something completely different than the others.
“My old self has been crucified
with Christ. It is no longer I who live,
but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the
Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."
(Galatians 2:20 NLT)
We
offend, gossip and discourage rather than encourage with our words. We
rebel against God with our actions and that’s exactly what He hates.
First
Corinthians 13 tells us how we are to live and walk by love. By
submitting to the Word of God it allows us to stand out among the crowd in a
good way! In order to be able to do this
our help must come from the Lord and those He puts in our path as mentors.
If
you are not sure what this type of lifestyle should look like take a look at
those who demonstrate love as described in 1 Corinthians chapter 13. My Mother
was an example of what it looks like to love others unconditionally as Paul
preached to the Corinthians. She
was a tremendous testimony of what is different about one who puts their faith in
the Lord.
When
we learn to operate in love we will begin to look more like our Savior and not
offend, gossip or tear down others. After that it won't take long before people recognize what is different about you. (cw)
