Peace is A LOVE Gift from God

Verse of the Month:

“… Love one another as I have loved you …” John 13:34

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 53:5

Peace is A LOVE Gift from God

How often have you read Isaiah 53:5?  Many times we skip over most of the verse and zero in on the “by His stripes you are healed” part of the scripture.  The truth is that we cannot ignore the rest of the verse, because it all goes together.
When Jesus died on the cross for our sins, He also died for everything else we would go through in life.  “Transgressions against God and one another, iniquities (which is knowingly sinning over and over again), robbery of our peace in all aspects of life, and sickness that destroys life”.
See God loved us so much that He sent us His Peace to dwell in us through His Holy Spirit.  If you are at odds with someone, sick or in need of anything, you are not at peace.  In fact, you are living the exact opposite -chaos and unrest.  Living a life not settled causes us to waver and walk out of faith.

Choose to walk in faith and receive God's love gift of peace right now.

Weekly Memory Verse:  Isaiah 53:5

“But He (Jesus) was wounded for our transgressions,

He was bruised for our iniquities;

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,

And by His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5 NKJV)

Wisdom in Hearing

  Verse of the Month:

“… Love one another as I have loved you …” John 13:34

 February 1-7

Scripture Reading: Proverbs 13:13

 Wisdom in Hearing
When I was a child my Dad would say, "No one ever got into trouble listening."  In other words, he was saying to listen and keep your mouth shut, but he said it in a more tactful way.
Proverbs 13:1-3 gives us instruction from the Heavenly Father on listening.  A wise son listens and gains knowledge that will give life, but one that constantly opens his lips will eventually have destruction.
A wise son heeds his father’s instruction,
But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.
A man shall eat well by the fruit of his mouth,
But the soul of the unfaithful feeds on violence.
He who guards his mouth preserves his life,
But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.

A wise son (child) not only hears the instruction, but he takes the information given to heart and keeps quiet; he is not easily provoked into arguments. Learn to be a wise child and listen without being offended (vs. 13).

Whoever despises the Word will be destroyed, but those who respect and do it will be rewarded.

Weekly Memory Verse:  Proverbs 13:13

“He who despises the Word will be destroyed,
But he who fears the commandment will be rewarded.”

A Good Word

January 22-31, 2015

 Scripture Reading: Proverbs 12:25

 A Good Word

Working with special needs children I’ve often gone to work feeling tired and worn out even before I’ve started my actual teaching day.  It seems my body needed more rest than it got and so it would affect my emotions.  That’s normal for most.

However, knowing the background of each child would help me to get my attitude in check or “right” before they entered the classroom.  Children are more in tune with feelings and life than we give them credit.  They pick up on your feelings and take things to heart.  Knowing this, they would often try to encourage the staff with a kind word, and became the “adult” in caring.

A kind word goes a long way.  Try practicing Proverbs 12:25 each day and see how a good word makes you feel.

Weekly Memory Verse:  Proverbs 12:25 (NKJV)
"Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression,
but a good word makes it glad!"

Forget Not All His Benefits

 Week of January 15-22, 2015

 Scripture Reading: Psalm 103

 Forget Not All His Benefits

SOFFY Ministries prays scriptures over our partners, supporters and friends in this ministry.  Psalm 103 is a passage we specifically pray, because of the blessings and promises God gives to us.
God has promised to forgive us, heal us, empower and protect us.  He promises to renew our youth!
As you start out your day, remember to “Bless the LORD O my soul and forget not all His benefits” for you are His child.
Bless the Lord for giving you protection (vs. 20-22) with strong angels overseeing your every move.  Bless the Lord for giving you anointed teachers and preachers that delight in His work.  Bless the Lord, bless the Lord for His goodness endures forever.
Continue reading about all the benefits God has given you as you study the entire chapter of Psalm 103.

Weekly Memory Verse:  Psalm 103:1-5
Praise for the Lord’s Mercies: A Psalm of King David

Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Waiting on the LORD

Week of
January 8-14

 Scripture Reading: Isaiah 40:31

Waiting on the LORD

Waiting for anything is difficult for man, so when we have to wait longer than we expect, sometimes we give up hope.
God tells us in His Word it is expected that we should wait for things to happen, and when we do we can expect to be renewed in our spirit and in hope.

A child waits and waits for a new bike.  When the bike finally arrives, he/she is delighted and overjoyed that the expected end has manifested. (Proverbs 13:12)
Whatever it is you’ve asked God for, wait and believe for the expected outcome.  When it comes to pass, remember that God said it would come, and it would renew you.  Give Him the glory.

Weekly Memory Verse:

“But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV)

God is My Source

Week of
January 1-7
Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:19

God is My Source

There is a sign we have hung in our church and home that reads, “God is my Source.”  Our jobs provide an income, but the source still came from God.

Understanding that God is your source and supplier of all your needs will open opportunities for the better job, increase of pay and abundance of all good things.  God is our source, not man or our job.  People change and so do our jobs, but God the supplier never does.

No matter where you work or get your seed from (money), remember that God made it possible for it to be given to you.

Weekly Memory Verse:

“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ (the Anointed One and His Anointing) Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
