Beyond the Cross

Faith Moments Daily Bible Reading and Online Devotionals

For Christians around the world, they have entered into a celebration known as Holy Week.  It is a time when we remember the events that took place leading up to the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Often times when witnessing we only talk about the need to become a follower of Christ and receive salvation from sin.  However, there is so much more that Jesus provided for all who believe that goes beyond the cross.

When we accept Jesus as our Savior, the blessings that accompany salvation reach far past this life and into eternity.  Becoming a child of God means that we have been reconciled back to Him.

Without the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross, salvation could never happen.  Sin divided the relationship between God and mankind, but the cross redeemed us back to Him.

Although it is wonderful to embrace spending eternity with Jesus, the work of the cross is so much more than an eternal trip to Heaven.  The resurrection of Jesus provided a way for sins to be forgiven, eternal death defeated, new life born through the grace of God, healing here on earth made possible and the list of salvation benefits continues.

"Therefore if the Son (Jesus) makes you free (liberates), you shall be (truly) free indeed."  John 8:36

During Holy Week, be mindful of the sacrifices Jesus made so that we could become sons and daughters of the Most High God.  Then look beyond the cross and receive all that Jesus died for so that you could live a life free from the curse of sin, sickness and death.
