Four Things to Stay in God's Peace

Faith Moments Daily Bible Reading and Online Devotionals

With so much hatred, violence and destruction going on in the world today it is sometimes hard to see love let alone show it.  Although these things may be happening, the bible gives instruction on how we can live at peace no matter what the circumstance.

"...Be complete.  Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you."
2 Corinthians 13:11 NKJV

The Apostle Paul writes that believers are to strive for these four things:

1 - to become one in Christ (be complete),
2 - to comfort one another,
3 - to be of one mind (unify our thinking), and
4 - live in peace despite any conflict that may be happening.

When we do this, because of God's love, He promises to give His peace and help in any situation.  His presence will be with us if we pursue peace and love among the brethern.

Christmas Greetings of Hope

Verse of the Week

“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly host praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”  (Luke 2:14 NKJV)

 December 22nd – 31st

Scripture Reading:  Luke 2:1-20; John 3:1-20

Christmas Greetings of Hope

A favorite part of the holiday season for me is mailing out Christmas cards.  Apparently, over a billion others feel the same.  However, the idea of sending greetings of hope didn’t come from mankind as we’d like to think; we are merely the recipients of the original greeting card sent from God through His messenger angels.

“Then the angel said to them, Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”  (Luke 2:10-11 NKJV)

Christmas began when God sent His Only Begotten Son to Earth with greetings filled with hope, joy and peace.  This message wasn’t just for the shepherds or those of that time, but for all mankind who would believe and rejoice in Jesus as the sent Savior from God.

“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly host praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
(Luke 2:13-14 NKJV)

As the year comes to a close, will you open your heart and receive the message from the angels?  God sent Jesus for you and all who come to believe the Christmas greeting of hope.  Receive the true Christmas greeting that salvation has come, and like the angels, spread the good news to all mankind. (cw)

“For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world, that He even gave His One and Only Begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in His as Savior shall not perish, but have eternal life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world through His (Jesus) might be saved.”
(John 3:16 AMP &17 NKJV)

The Promise of Peace and Good Will

Verse of the Month

“Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign:
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son,
and shall call His name Immanuel – God with us.”
(Isaiah 7:14 NKJV)

December 22nd – 31st

Scripture Reading:  Luke 2; Romans 6

The Promise of Peace and Good Will

With Christmas and New Year celebrations running in full force it’s difficult to find moments of peace.  Yet in all the hustle and bustle, people are still expecting goodwill to happen to them just because it’s Christmas!  Does that surprise you?

The problem is that they are looking for inner peace and goodness in all the wrong places.  They do not understand that the source of good and peace comes from God, not man.

“Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth, peace, goodwill toward men!”
(Luke 2:14 NKJV)

When God gave us His Son Jesus, the promise of peace on earth and goodwill wasn’t given to everyone like some teach.  No, the promises fulfilled through the Birth of Jesus only belong to those who repent of their sin and believe in the Christ child as the Messiah, Son of God who saves them from their sin.

The gift of peace is reserved only for those in whom God is well pleased. How is He pleased?  Good tidings of great joy are promises for anyone on earth who believes and receives God’s gift of His Son.

Are you looking for that inner peace that you can’t seem to find?  Perhaps it’s because you are not in right standing with God.  You can pray this prayer right now and start enjoying the promise that the angel of God delivered to the shepherds over 2,000 years ago.

“For what (any) one earns from sin (sinning against God) is death;
but eternal life is what one receives as a free gift from God,
in union with the Messiah Yeshua, our Lord.” “(Romans 6:23 CJB)

Believe that the free gift of God is Jesus, Immanuel and receive Him as Savior. Make things right with God in your heart so that peace on earth and goodwill will be yours today. (cw)

“But the angel said to them: Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying
in a manger.  And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude
of the Heavenly host praising God and saying,

Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth peace among men
with whom He is pleased.” (Luke 2:10-14 NSB)

Sustained

Verse of the Month

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will
give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
(Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV)

March 22nd – 31st, 2019

Scripture Reading: Matthew 11:28; Psalm 55:22

Sustained

There's a song we sing in church by Don Moen, that ministers to my spirit when I feel that life is dishing out more than I can handle.  It's based on the scriptures reflecting what the psalmist did in times of adversity.

In Psalm 55:22 the psalmist tells us what we can expect when we turn to the Lord in times of distress, sadness, sorrow or fear in the midst of trials.  The Bible tells us that there is something to be received by trusting God with your concerns.  In exchange for worries (casting our burdens on the LORD), God says that He will sustain us.

“Cast your burden upon the LORD, and He will sustain you:
He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
 (Psalm 55:22 NKJV)

What does sustain mean in this passage?  Simply phrased, the Lord will support us physically and mentally.  His Spirit will encourage, help, assist, cheer-up, comfort and give strength to our spirit.

If we trust Him with our cares and burdens, God will be the source and tower of strength we need to endure.  He will not let us slip or fall in the time of crisis.

Let Christ be your source of sustaining energy.  He is greater than your burdens. His yoke is easy and His burdens are light. Remain in faith knowing that you can depend and rest in His promise(s). (cw)

Because Jesus Cares

Verse of the Month

March 15th – 21st, 2019

Scripture Reading: Matthew 11:28; 1 Peter 5:6-7

Because Jesus Cares

This world is full of issues and situations that often stretch us to the limits. We fret and worry wondering if we are the only ones facing these things alone, and if anyone even cares.

I’ve been in that “place” and have great news for you. It may feel like no come cares, but I assure you even when your emotions are sending you those messages, don’t believe them, because you have a Savior that truly loves you.

Your mind can be at complete rest knowing God cares for you and about everything that concerns you.  Listen closely ... Jesus is whispering into your heart. ... Relax My child, I've got this.  (cw/jw)

Weary and Burdened

Verse of the Month

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will
give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

(Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV)

March 8th – 14th

Scripture Reading: Matthew 11:28-30

Weary and Burdened

Living a balanced life takes work.  We struggle emotionally, physically, mentally, financially and wonder why we're so exhausted!  The problem doesn't lie in those things, but rests on spiritual unrest.

When our soul fails to find rest in the Lord it affects us in every area of our life causing us to become weary.  We have forgotten to trust in God by carrying the weight of burden ourselves.  Jesus reminds us that His burden is light and the load we carry isn't a burden to Him.

Next time you sense that life is unbalanced remind yourself that your soul is in need of a rest, and take refuge in God's Word immediately. (cw)

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
Psalm 37:7a
