Memorial to a Soldier

Verse of the Month

“To the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all those who have known the truth, because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever.”

Memorial to a Soldier

Standing by the graveside, it was a cold and windy day in April.  Family and a few friends gathered to say their final good-byes to a loved one who had served us well.  In her long life, this woman daily ministered to others and put her needs second.  She was a real soldier in overcoming the tragedies in her own life.  Yet she never talked about her battles.
She never married, never owned a home or drove a car.  Few people told her they loved her.  Her requests were few, but those of peace for her country.
As we celebrate Memorial Day this year and show appreciation for those who have served us in war, let’s take a moment to be thankful for those who served here on the home front.  There are soldiers in life who never go to battle, but battle in prayer for those who do.
On Memorial Day I will remember those who have served for my freedom and prayed for it as well, so that we might live a godly and peaceable life.  God bless the faithful.
