A Round of Thanks
I’m
not sure about other countries, but in America people make elaborate plans for
their Thanksgiving dinner, including guests and the selection of foods that
will be provided for the feast of thanks.
Another important part that we spend a lot of time on is the tablescape. It has to be perfect not overlooking one
thing!
This
year I’d like to suggest adding something special to your table setting that
people will remember. As a
representative of Christ Jesus, prepare for each guest (including your own
family) by demonstrating your appreciation and thankfulness for their being a
part of your life in a personal way.
" And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord
Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” (Colossians 3:17 NLT)
Ahead
of time have the family make a card or tag for each person coming to the event
that will be placed on the table in front of where they will be seated. Try to be creative in the design(s); they don’t
have to match but can be quite as individual as those dining that day.
Along
with their name, write something that you are thankful for in the relationship and
how they have been a blessing in your life.
Add a verse of encouragement that suits each person as a reminder of
thanks.
“Every time I
think of you, I give thanks to my God.” (Philippians 1:3 NLT)
Finally,
you can either do this before or during the meal. Provide an opportunity allowing those who wish to give a round of thanks
to do so.
During
our studies this month we have learned that it is "good to give thanks"
showing our appreciation to God and others on a daily basis. In doing so we please our Heavenly Father in
being obedient to His Word, and those are the people He wants to bless. (cw)
