“If we
confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Psalm 103; 1 John 1:9
Free from Guilt and
Shame
Have
you ever confessed a sin to God and find yourself confessing it over and over because
you can’t get free the guilt or shame of it?
Most believers can probably relate to feeling like this and don’t
realize why.
The
bible promises that when we freely admit and confess our sins to God, He is
faithful and just to forgive us. A
person who is “just” is morally and ethically sound, or in God’s case – “bound”
by His own Word to do as He stated.
“If we
confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9 NKJV)
The
problem is that our mind has a hard time receiving or grasping that
reality. Often times it’s because we don’t
understand who we are in Christ Jesus and don’t know what accompanied salvation
as recorded in Psalm 103.
One
of the first scriptures people learn is John 3:16, but how many of us remember
what verse 17 says? Pastor Jim always
points this out:
“For God so
loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting (eternal) life. (17) For God did not send His Son into the
world to condemn
the world,
but that the world through Him (Jesus) might be saved.”
(John 3:16-17
NKJV)
God
loves you and when you confess sin, He chooses to forget it ever happened. It’s removed, gone and never to be brought up
again, except by you, someone else or satan.
“As far as
the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions (sins) from
us.” (Psalm 103:12 NKJV)
Stop
believing lies and believe what God said.
“You are forgiven!”
Enjoy
the wonderful freedom of confessed sins. You have been made righteous through
Jesus to openly live free from any guilt or shame of the past. (cw)
