Instructions Included

Verse of the Week

“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.”
(Proverbs 16:3 NKJV)

 June 15th – 21st

Scripture Reading:  Proverbs 16

Instructions Included

A father was assembling a tricycle for his daughter’s birthday. For hours he took every part and fastened one to another.  When his wife came into the room, she asked how he was coming along with the project.

Feeling confident he got up from the floor and tried to stand the bike, but the wheels were wobbly and backwards.  It was all wrong.

“When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom.”
(Proverbs 11:2 NKJV)

Picking up the box his discerning wife turned it upside down and noticed a piece of paper tucked in the bottom.  Reaching in she pulled out the sheet. Smiling she read the bold print at the top: “Read all the instructions before assembling”.

“Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers,
And blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD.

The wise in heart are called discerning,
and gracious words promote (persuade) instruction.”
(Proverbs 16:20-21 NIV)

We go about life the same way disregarding instruction, just like this father did.  Things look simple enough that we don’t think we need any help in going about doing our daily schedule.  That’s when pride gets in the way, and rarely we notice that’s what’s happening.

“To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the proper answer of the tongue. All a person’s ways seem pure to them,
but motives are weighed by the LORD. (Proverbs 16:1-2 NKJV)

It’s important that in everything we do, God is part of our plans, because He wrote the life manual.  The Lord gave us the instructions needed to help all the parts of our life fit together in the right place. It’s called the Bible.  Read and follow for best results. (cw)

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.”
(Proverbs 16:3 NKJV)

Great is the Unfailing Compassion of A Father

Verse of the Month

“The days of my life were spread out before You.  The days of my life are prepared before I'd ever lived one day.”  (Psalm 139:16b MSG)

June 15th – 21st

Scripture Reading: Psalm 103:13; Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV

Great is the Unfailing Compassion of A Father

Providing for a child is no easy task and making sure the seven kids in my family were fed, clothed and cared for properly took faithful hard work.  It was difficult finding time to spend with my Dad because he always seemed to be working, but there was a  motive behind his diligence.

After his day job Dad came home for dinner and then went to work at another part time employment.  He did his best to provide all we needed because he loved and cared for us.

The bible tells us that the Heavenly Father has even greater love for His children than our earthly Dad.  He wants to give His children good things.
Jesus said in Matthew 7:11 and Luke 12:32 (NIV) that it pleases God to give to us, just as it does our earthly fathers.

God has a loving, caring and generous heart.  His compassion is unfailing and unending.  It is His compassion that we look for in Christian’s that show others how much He cares for those who believe in His Son Jesus.

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
(Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV)

Maybe you didn’t have a Dad in the picture when growing up, or your relationship wasn’t close.  Let the Heavenly Father into your heart.  Believe He loves you and will fill that gap. Great is His compassion and He will never fail you. (cw)
“As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.” (Psalm 103:13 CSB)
