Even Greater Gifts
When I was a young boy I really liked visiting Uncle Johnnie’s house, because
something was always going on and you never really knew what he would come up
with next.
You can imagine how my
excitement grew when my uncle said he wanted to show me something
special. What treasures did he have in store for me the night that I received what I thought was the most "perfect" gift a ten year old boy could ever get!
Our scripture reading for today points out even greater gifts that are waiting for us to receive for the asking.
“Every generous act and every perfect gift is from above, coming
down from the Father of lights; with Him there is no variation or shadow cast
by turning.
By His own choice, He gave us a new birth by the message of
truth so that we would be the first fruits of His
creatures." (James 1:17-18 HCSB)
On that particular visit I received a good gift. Even though it was terrific, God had a greater gift in store for me than material possessions and He has the same for you.
How much more do you think
our Heavenly Father would give each of us if we opened our hands and hearts to the gifts
He is giving?
As you spend time in
prayer and the Word of God, ask the Heavenly Father for the wisdom, knowledge
and understanding for the gifts He has prepared for you.
