Verse of the month
“If you then, for all your evil,
quite naturally give good things to your children, how much more likely is it
that your Heavenly Father will give good things to those who ask him?” (Matthew
7:11 Phillips)

Asking Dad
Many, many times in our brief life together I asked my Dad
for something. Whether it was for permission to go somewhere, to do
something or get guidance on figuring out a problem, Dad was the authority
(along with Mom) in my life.
All requests needed to be made to and through my father,
which isn’t out of the ordinary in most of our lives. If we wanted
something we had to ask first. This was all part of the father/child
relationship with our earthly Dads.
Most
people don't think God wants to be bothered with our daily needs like our
earthly parents. They overlook the fact that our Heavenly Father also
seeks a relationship with His dear children. He wants us to trust in and
to depend upon Him.
Just
as we go to our earthly fathers for things, God has set aside a way for us to
reach out to Him with our needs, hopes and desires through prayer. Jesus
told us in very simple terms that we can all understand:
"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and
you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks
receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be
opened." (Matthew 7:7-8 NKJV).
God
desires (longs for, wants) to bless and to see us blessed. It is His
desire to meet our needs. He wants to hear from us as we ask, seek and knock on
His Heavenly door in prayer.
My
earthly Dad took pleasure in granting permission and doing things for me when I
asked. How much more will the Lord take
pleasure in responding to our needs and desires if we ask Him?
" Fear not, little flock; for it is your
Father's good pleasure to give
you the
kingdom." (Luke 12:32 KJV)
God
is willing, able and waiting to bless us in every area of life. Go ahead
and ask! (jw)
