December 15th – 21st
When you think of the word “thrilling” what comes to mind? Climbing a mountain, running a marathon, sky diving or something else dangerous is what most think of in terms of a thrill.
Frankly, I doubt the “whole” world really rejoices over these things. For instance, my husband hoped to attend a bird dog field trial. When he finally went, he felt it was the thrill of his life (other than marrying me of course!).
The concept of hope is looking for a reason to keep believing and helps us get to the other side of something. Actually, for a Christian, it’s a place holder for faith as we patiently wait on the Lord for guidance.
Rarely, if at all, do we think of “spirituality” as thrilling. However, French poet Placide Cappeau felt differently when he penned the poem O Holy Night. John Sullivan Dwight’s version is most commonly sung, but the original translation literally depicts and shares the message of how thrilling the hope of Christmas is for all who believe in the Christ child as the saving Redeemer.
The world may be weary and struggling to find hope, but all is not lost. Hope in Jesus to fill you with joy and peace in believing as He guides you into all truth teaching the way to go.
This year may the world rejoice in carols of praise at Christmas, with the thrill of hope in our Savior, Deliverer and Redeemer. (cw)
