Verse of the Week
“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV)
December 1st – 7th
Maintaining Gratitude
This year many have suffered tremendous losses of loved ones, financial stability, health issues or other life-changing situations, and being grateful may not come easily. I know it may be difficult, but remaining thankful is a choice even during unsatisfactory circumstances.
(1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV)
The Bible tells us that in everything we are to maintain an attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving. It doesn’t mean we are to be thankful for things that don’t go as planned or grateful for tragedies, that’s not what the scriptures teach. Our part is to remain in a state of gratefulness knowing God is working the situation out for our good and His glory.
When we’re going through a crisis, we have no problem rushing into the Throne room of God to pray. However, when things are going well, we rarely thank Him for His goodness.
Psalm 100 gives us a reference of who God is and what should be in our hearts. It’s not just a reminder for Israel lest they forget what God has done for them, but this passage of truth is for you and me … it’s to all generations (past, present and future).
