Everything that has Breath – Praise the LORD!

Verse of the Month

“For as the earth brings forth its bud, As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.” (Isaiah 61:11 NKJV)

March 22nd – 31st, 2017

Scripture Reading:  Luke 19:29-44

Everything that has Breath – Praise the LORD!

“Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord” (Luke 19:38).
The prophets had been right.  The Word of God had been made flesh and was dwelling among men.  He was riding on a colt right into Jerusalem!  Oh blessed is He that comes in the Name of the Lord!

Jerusalem was excited.  His disciples were excited.  The Pharisees, on the other hand, weren’t so excited or enthusiastic.  In fact, they criticized Jesus and told Him to make the people stop praising Him and cheering.  I love Jesus’ response to the Pharisees, “And He answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out” (Luke 19:40).

The stones could not keep their silence in the presence of the Son of God!  Stones!  Rocks!  Lifeless things!  Jesus was telling the Pharisees that the rocks know the Son of God and will gladly praise me, but you guys don’t even know who I am!

I don’t know about you, but I sure don’t want the rocks having to praise because I’m acting like some spiritual “stump”!  We are commanded in Psalm 150:6, “Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD.  Praise ye the LORD.”   As long as we have breath within us we are to praise the Lord! Praise opens a channel between God and us.  Psalm 22:3 states, “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabits the praises of Israel.”  God inhabits our praises!  He dwells, abides in the middle of it!

The obedient act of praise is a vital, but much neglected part of worship.  There is power in praise.  Learn how you can tap into that power.  Do you have breath? Then praise the LORD!
