Safety in My Father’s Hands

Verse of the Month

“For as the earth brings forth its bud, As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.” (Isaiah 61:11 NKJV)

Safety in My Father’s Hands

“…no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand”
(John 10:29).

The little 5-year old boy went with his parents, and aunt and uncle to the grand opening of a shopping mall.  Everything was new and exciting.

While the men went to a live animal display in the mall corridor, the ladies went into one of the stores.  Dad said to his son, “Hold onto my hand so you don’t get lost!”

In his rush to see the animals the little boy let go of his Dad’s hand.  He ran around to one side of the display and then ran to the other end to see more animals.  He then turned around expecting to see his Dad, but he wasn’t there.

Walking away from the safety of his Dad’s hand the youngster was now in the middle of dozens and dozens of strangers.  Panic overtook the little 5-year old.  Tears came streaming down his face.  He was alone and in serious danger!

A very kind and gentle security guard came over to him and told him he would help in finding Mom and Dad.  By now the family was frantic too!  Minutes seemed like hours, but finally about 35 minutes later the little boy was safely back in the arms of his family.  He couldn’t wait to get out of that scary mall!

That little boy’s experience sounds a lot like our lives, doesn’t it?  We know there is safety in the arms of Jesus, but we put ourselves at risk by letting go of His Hand and trying to go it alone.

Psalm 18:35 promises, “Thou has also given me the shield of Thy salvation:  and Thy right hand hath holds me up, and Thy gentleness has made me great.”  I hope we all learned a lesson from this little boy’s experience.  I know I did; you see I was that little boy.

We have safety in the strength of our Father’s hands.
