Living
a Life of Thanksgiving
Being
thankful for all things is a character trait that needs to be developed in all
believers. Paul encourages us in our
reading today, to be thankful for and love those who teach and instruct us in
the things of the Lord.
He also tells us
that in doing so, we need to be at peace among our own, to disciple those who
become unruly, comfort the discouraged and support or uplift the weak and have
patience with all, praying continually.
This seems like a lot to keep up with, but when we operate in love and
not out of the flesh, we can live in peace.
In
doing these things we need to thank the Lord for using us to help those in
need, rather than complain about how hard it is. When we give thanks in doing these things, we
are doing God’s will and pleasing Him.
His Spirit is not extinguished in us, but is rekindled by love.
