“Whoever gives heed (will listen) to instruction prospers,

And blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD.” (Proverbs 16:20 NIV)

January 22^nd – 31^st

Instructions Included

A loving father was diligently trying to assemble a tricycle for his daughter’s birthday.  For hours he took every part and fastened them one to another.  When his wife came in the room, she asked how he was coming along with the project.

Wanting to show how much he accomplished he tried to get the bike to stand, but something went wrong.  To start with, the wheels were wobbly and backwards, the handlebars were upside down.  Well, you get the point … it just wasn’t right.

Picking up the box on the floor the wife turned it upside down thinking something may still be in it that might help.  Tucked in the bottom was a piece of paper, so she reached in to see what it was.  Pulling it out she saw this: “Read all instructions before assembling.”

We’re much like that father going about life trying to operate on our own with no guidance, but it doesn’t have to be that way.  The instructions were already included in the gift, but he chose not to follow them.  As a result, his work was not blessed, nor did he prosper in the task. 

“Whoever gives heed (will listen) to instruction prospers,

And blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD.” (Proverbs 16:20 NIV)

God gave us a set of instructions to help all parts of our life fit into the right place without frustration.  It’s called the Holy Bible, His written instructions to anyone who will receive the FREE gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.  A lesson learned – read and follow for best results! (cw)
