Jesus Lives

Verse of the Week

“I am He that lives, and was dead.  Behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” (Revelation 1:18 NKJV)

 April 15th– 21st

Scripture Reading: Luke 24:11; John 20:27-30, Revelation 1:18

Jesus Lives

News reached the Disciples that the tomb was empty and Jesus was risen from the dead.  It quickly spread across the land, but sounded like nonsense to those who heard and they simply didn’t believe, including the disciples He taught. (Luke 24:11 NLT)

Suddenly, Jesus appeared before them in a room that was locked from the inside.  Filled with fear, disbelief and wonder, had they seen a ghost?

Showing His wounds, the Disciples eyes were opened that Jesus was alive! He lives … just as He said.  Thomas was not with the other disciples when Christ first appeared, but in explaining that Christ had risen from the dead in disbelief he said,

“I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in His hands,
put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in His side.”
(John 20:25 NLT).

Eight days later Thomas did just that … he touched the Risen Savior and truly came to believe.  Jesus had risen and was very much alive!  The sad thing is that he didn’t believe Christ’s words, but wanted additional proof.

Just as it was then, the evidence of Jesus’ resurrection is overwhelming.  Testimony upon testimony point out the steps of Jesus after He rose from the grave, and the miraculous transformation of lives He’s still doing today for those who believe.

“I am He that lives, and was dead.  Behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” (Revelation 1:18 NKJV)

Friend, Christ really rose from the grave and lives today.  What will it take for you to believe that Jesus lives?   Stop doubting!  As Jesus told Thomas,
Don’t be an unbeliever, believe! (cw/jw)
