Turn the World Upside Down

Verse of the Week

“Then the master said to the servant, “Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”
(Luke 14:23 NKJV)

July 15th – 21st, 2020

Scripture Reading: Acts 17 & 18; Luke 14:16-24

Turn the World Upside Down

The beginning age of the church was known as those who “turned the world upside” down according to Acts 17:6b. Believers in Jesus as the true Messiah shared the gospel fervently without shame, witnessing to everyone and inviting them to fellowship together.

“… These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.”

If we compare the first century church to now, it looks as if something major is missing, especially since we cannot meet in a physical building setting as usual during this global pandemic.  With this being so, what can we do to share the message of Jesus?

As the current Body of Christ (the church) we are to be just as excited as Luke described in Acts chapter 18 when it comes to winning souls to the Lord.  That means we should still be looking for ways to share the gospel despite not being able to gather regularly.

In order to bring the fullness of Christ to a hurting world during this situation, in prayer ask the Lord to fill you with His Spirit daily with ways to tell people about Him.  Such as through social media, a phone call, text, mailed card or standing in line at a store.

Compel others to turn to Christ for salvation just like the early church did and become part of those who turned the world upside down for Jesus. That way, when we are able to assemble again invite them to church so God’s house will be filled with new believers. (cw)

How Comfortable is the Furniture in Your Church?

Verse of the month

“…Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.”
(2 Corinthians 13:11 NKJV)

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 10

How comfortable is the furniture in your church?

Do you go to church or do you attend TV Church?  There is nothing wrong with watching the many tremendous men and women of God who spread the Gospel through television.  They need our financial support too because television airtime is very expensive.  However, if you only attend TV Church, you are missing out on fellowship with other believers and are not following the Word of God.

Hebrews 10:25 says,
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another:  and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
TV Church for some is legitimate since it is their only way of hearing the Word.  There are those who don’t drive and have no transportation or are in poor health.  These are the exception and not the rule.

When the broadcast is over, with whom do you fellowship?  Where can you get answers to your questions?  If you are in need of someone to Biblically lay hands on you and pray over you, whom will you call?  If you have an emergency in the middle of the night and need the fellowship of a Pastor, whom do you call?  The TV preachers would be there for you if they could, but most of them are called to a different type of ministry.  The local church is where we receive the fellowship of other believers and the personalized ministry of a Pastor.

Let me encourage you to find a good church (one that preaches the uncompromised Word of God) and fellowship with other believers.  The seats may not be as comfortable as those at home, but fellowship will more than make up for that!
