Who is to Evangelize to the Lost?

It's not unusual for me to hear the question, "Who is responsible for evangelizing to the lost anyway?  Isn't that the pastor's job?"  If you were hoping I'd say yes, I'm sorry to disappoint you but the answer is "NO". 

Jesus has commanded that all who come to a salvation knowledge through Him share the message with others.  Often times people hold back on witnessing thinking they have to give a big sermon or something along that line in order to reach someone, when the opposite is true.

Try sharing how you came to believe in Christ; tell of something wonderful God has recently done in your life.  It doesn't have to be elaborate, just honest and from your heart.  Next time you feel a prompt from the Holy Spirit to speak up to someone, go ahead and shed the light of the Living God that burns brightly within you.

"For this is what the Lord has commanded us: 

I have made you a light for the Gentiles (the unsaved and lost spiritually),

that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth." (Acts 13:47 emphasis mine)

The Evangelist in You

Did you know that for a believer evangelism isn’t a choice but a command from Jesus in Mark 16:15? 

“Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

I know, you may be saying, “I’m not an evangelist.”  Hey, but you are and it’s easier than you think.  There are tons of ways to share the gospel message of faith in Christ, but giving out tracts is a good way to reach people you’ll probably never meet face-to-face.

In a Fellowship Teaching Letter I share ten places where you can legally use gospel tracts effectively.  Plus, there are helpful tips on what not to do when distributing these helpful handouts.

You may not be gifted in the Body of Christ to be a pastor, apostle, prophet or teacher, but because of these individuals all of God’s children are equipped to evangelize and share the good news of salvation. (cw)
