Prepare for the Next Battle 

It's loads of fun to win ballgames and feels great, but then a time comes when you lose.  I know how that feels, because it happened to us in coaching baseball in playing for a championship.  What happened to the victory? 

The victory was overtaken by letting down our guard thinking the battle was already won.  We failed to put our best effort into what was to come, by thinking we could repeat the same strategies with a different team.  The same thinking happens in life.  We forget that it's a battlefield and not a playground like when we were kids. 

Being overly-confident in our own abilities opens the door for satan to attack during our unpreparedness.  The Bible tells us to always be on alert and in self-control so the enemy cannot deceive us.  (1 Peter 5:8 NIV 1984),   

“And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

It is not surprising then, if his servants also masquerade as servants

of righteousness.  Their end will be what their actions deserve.” 

(2 Corinthians 11:14-15 NIV)         

Don't be persuaded by the devil.  Stand strong in the Word being fully equipped for and prepared for battle.  Put on the full armor of God and watch Him deliver you by faith into victory.  Faith to faith, victory to victory, glory to glory.  Stay alert after the victory and you will always be prepared for another win. Knowledge and Power Bring Victory

Sooner or later everyone encounters a battle in their life of some nature.  None of them are the same, yet all troubles in life come from the same root – satan!

The good thing is that with Christ on our side, every battle can be defeated over the enemy.  He gives us the knowledge and power we need through the Holy Spirit that causes us to triumph against the forces of evil.

“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ,

and through us diffuses (manifests) the fragrance of His

knowledge in every place.” (2 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV)

It’s true, not one person can escape the devil or sin without Jesus, but with Him all things are possible. Why is that?  When we believe God’s Word, the Holy Spirit reconciles us back to Him, enabling power to overcome the enemy.

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible

to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23 NKJV)

Begin with making Jesus Lord of your life over everything. Pray and make things right with God. Give Him thanks for the knowledge and power that will bring the victory. (cw)

“I am grateful that God always makes it possible for Christ to lead us

to victory.  God also helps us spread the knowledge about Christ everywhere, and this knowledge is like the smell of perfume.”

Trained and Skilled for Battle

Verse of the Week

“Praise the LORD, my protector!  He trains me for battle

and prepares me for war.” (Psalm 144:1 GNT)

 May 22^nd – 31^st

Trained and Skilled for Battle

Regardless of whether it is during peace or war time, when a soldier is commissioned for duty they do not know when or if they will return home.  Courageously they leave behind all they know and love for the sake of basically strangers. 

Those that put their faith in God will have strength and courage in the midst of fear.  He will guide, train and give them the skills needed for the task.

“Praise the LORD, my protector!  He trains me for battle

and prepares me for war.” (Psalm 144:1 GNT)

Let us remind them that He will be with them no matter where they are and will provide whatever they need for the physical, mental and spiritual battle. 

“Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified

because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you;

He will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV)

With thanks we acknowledge the brave sacrifice of those in the military who fight for our freedom and rights. It is not unnoticed, but highly valued.

May God grant peace, safety and strength to them, as well as the families of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives.  (cw)

Train in God’s Promises

Anyone who has ever trained for anything has a purpose in mind.  When I played and later coached baseball, we started training in February for a season that didn't start until April.  At times the field was snow covered, but that didn't stop us.  We wanted to be fully trained and prepared for the upcoming games.

Comparing baseball games to life is a no-brainer.  Certainly, life is much more important, and without it you couldn't play ball in the first place.  However, as a believer in Christ Jesus, being fully trained and prepared by the Holy Spirit from the Word of God is absolutely essential in order to win over the schemes of the devil.

We need to know what to do scripturally when situations arise.  How to act and not react, and specifically know what spirit filled words to speak when things get tough. 

Knowing and being able to speak the Word of God is a key factor in victory over circumstances for all believers.  Plus being prepared by having knowledge of God's promises ahead of time sure stacks up favor for your side when it comes to the lies of satan.

We are given warning that this can happen in Ephesians 6, and that the Word of God is the weapon needed to train us in the promises of God for becoming victorious Christians.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against 

the wiles (schemes) of the devil.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." (Ephesians 6:10-13 NKJV)

Daily read God’s word and seek out the promises; memorize and highlight them in your bible.  Practice may not make you perfect, but it sure will train you spiritually on how to handle "what's next". (jw/cw)

Another Chance 

Victory is ours!

It seems that no matter what list of things I try to accomplish during the year, I always fall short in doing it all.  Furthermore, it seems that many people fall into this same category each year. 

Instead of feeling bad about what I didn’t get done, I am thankful for the things I did accomplish with the help of the Lord.

When I look back over the year, I find that there were things I accomplished that were more important than the things I had on my original “to do” list.

As we enter into another year let us be thankful for the victories we have had through Christ Jesus, and thank the Lord for another chance at the list this year. cw
