Verse of the Month
“God is not a man; He will not lie.
God is not a human being; His decisions will not change.
If He says He will do something, then He will do it.
If He makes a promise, then He will do what He promised.”
God is not a human being; His decisions will not change.
If He says He will do something, then He will do it.
If He makes a promise, then He will do what He promised.”

Train in God’s Promises
Anyone
who has ever trained for anything has a purpose in mind. When I played
and later coached baseball, we started training in February for a season that
didn't start until April. At times the field was snow covered, but that
didn't stop us. We wanted to be fully trained and prepared for the
upcoming games.
Comparing
baseball games to life is a no-brainer. Certainly, life is much more
important, and without it you couldn't play ball in the first place. However,
as a believer in Christ Jesus, being fully trained and prepared by the Holy
Spirit from the Word of God is absolutely essential in order to win over the schemes
of the devil.
We need to
know what to do scripturally when situations arise. How to act and not react,
and specifically know what spirit filled words to speak when things get
tough.
Knowing
and being able to speak the Word of God is a key factor in victory over
circumstances for all believers. Plus being prepared by having knowledge
of God's promises ahead of time sure stacks up favor for your side when it
comes to the lies of satan.
We
are given warning that this can happen in Ephesians 6, and that the Word of God
is the weapon needed to train us in the promises of God for becoming victorious
Christians.
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and
in the power of His might.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against
the wiles (schemes) of the devil.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
against spiritual hosts of
wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." (Ephesians 6:10-13 NKJV)
Daily
read God’s word and seek out the promises; memorize and highlight them in
your bible. Practice may not make you perfect, but it sure will train you spiritually on how to handle "what's next". (jw/cw)
