Unity Will Take Prayer

For the past 67 years America has joined in celebrating the Annual National Day of Prayer on the first Thursday in May.    It’s a day when people from all over the world, not just this country, pray for the United States return to its first love - God.

What exactly is it that all Christians need to be praying as a united body for this country and every nation?  Scriptures tell us that believer’s have a responsibility to uphold the Word of God by doing it.  This year the focus is on “unity” based on Ephesians 4:3.

“Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit,

binding yourselves together with peace.” (NLT)

It’s almost impossible to keep peace and agree with everyone, but what the passage means is that our unity is based on and through Jesus Christ. If we are abiding in Him and seek His ways we can be bound together peacefully, because our focus is on the Lord not things that are happening all over the world.

Prayer has a way of bringing God’s people together drawing them closer to the Lord.  If one, two or three people gathered together can move mountains, what can we accomplish if millions unite in prayer seeking the face of God?  Anything!

God is beckoning all believer’s to be united and reconciled back to Him.  As a child of God will you pray not only on the National Day of Prayer, but every day that Christians will purpose in their hearts to seek unity and bind together with peace? (cw)
