Rise and Shine

Verse of the Month

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”  (I Corinthians 15:58).

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 60:1-2

Rise and Shine

When I was a teenager, the family that I lived with would call me in the morning to “rise and shine”.  It was a nice way of getting me out from under the covers and on my way to school.

In Isaiah 60:1 we are told to:
“Arise, shine…the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.”
The glory of the Lord shall be seen on us!  John 12:36 says, “While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.”  What does all this mean to us?  It means that since the glory of the Lord is upon us and we believe in the light (which is Jesus Christ) we are to “rise and shine” and be an example, a witness, and a testimony of that Light.
So tomorrow morning when you wake up, remind yourself to “rise and shine”, because the glory of the Lord is risen upon you!  (JW)
