Verse of the Month
"From that time forth began
Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that He must go unto Jerusalem,
and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes,
and be killed, and be raised again the third day."

NKJV)

Destination
Day
As
Jesus led His disciples into Jerusalem no one asked "Are we there
yet?" From the response of the people there was no doubt they had
arrived at their destination.
When
Jesus entered the city on that “destination day”, those that greeted with
praise and rejoicing, would soon be calling for His crucifixion. The elders,
chief priests and scribes were eager to involve the Romans and get Jesus out of
the way.
From
our human standpoint things only got worse as the week progressed, yet Christ
never faltered. He kept on moving forward living a verse of scripture
that would later be revealed to the Apostle Paul. It was a message he gave to the church.
"...be steadfast, immovable, always
abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not
in vain."
1 Corinthians 15:58 (ESV)
It
is important for each of us to be reminded of what our Lord and Savior faced
for us there in Jerusalem. He knew the
final destination was Heaven. His labor
of love by sacrificing Himself on the cross would result in saving of the lost
so they would be reunited in Heaven with the Father.
With
Jesus as our example we need to get into position to move forward in a powerful
way abounding in the work of the Lord. Let this be in our thoughts when
suffering for the sake of souls, "On our final Destination Day we will be
with Jesus forever in Heaven." (jw/cw)
