Verse of the Month
“Christ has
set us free! This means we are really free.
Now hold on to your freedom and don’t ever become slaves of the Law
again.”

Set Free from
Frustration
Have
you ever been so frustrated that if you didn’t leave the situation there would
be some sort of trouble? No doubt there
have been times in your life when frustration has taken over your emotions. You
don’t want to sin, but cry out: “Lord, if You don’t do something quick, I
don’t think I can take this anymore.”
How
do you respond to something that is wrong and you can’t do a thing to correct
the situation? Even Jesus had His limits
when He found money changers and vendors selling in God’s house. His response was to flip the tables and run
the people out because they violated the sacred Temple. (See Matthew 21:12-13)
Why
can’t we act the same way when we’re frustrated with people? The difference is that Jesus’ frustration and
anger didn’t lead to sin, but was a Righteous act defending God’s House of
Prayer.
Often
times our frustration reaches levels that cause us to sin because we are so
upset. Injustice caused Jesus to act,
not His emotions. He was angry, but didn’t
sin. (Ephesians 4:26)
Jesus’
relationship with the Heavenly Father was key to keeping His emotions intact
and it is the same for us. Daily
conversations with God through prayer and reading the Bible will let us know
when we are out of His will.
When
you find yourself in a situation that frustrates you to the point of becoming angry,
take a faith moment to step back and ask, “Why is this causing me to act
this way?” Remind yourself that you
have been set free from frustration, anxiety and anger that could lead to sin.
Trust in the Lord for help. Search
your heart as King David did; invite the Lord to show you what is causing this
reaction and how to respond without sinning.
You might be surprised to find that you are the one who is in the wrong.

“Search me, O
God and know my heart;
test me and
know my anxious thoughts.
Point out
anything in me that offends you,
and lead me
along the path of everlasting life.”

139:23-24 NLT)
