November Focus

This fall may be one of the most historic seasons in the history of America with the recent storms that have devasted millions of lives, the upcoming elections and the unsettling events in the nations surrounding this country.  What are we to do and what is our part as believers in all of this?

Scriptures teach that no matter what is happening in this world, as the Body of Christ we are to remain united especially in prayer with the message of hope in Jesus Christ.  As we move forward by faith, let us prayerfully focus on the nation, voting, remembering veterans and the message of Thanksgiving.

The Value of Wisdom

                Faith Moments Daily Bible Reading and Online Devotionals

Scriptures reveal throughout its writings the value of obtaining wisdom for every area of our lives.  One such passage in the book of Proverbs is clear on what we can gain from seeking wisdom from God’s word and applying it to everything we do. 

In Proverbs 2 King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, tells us what we can expect from applying, discerning, and understanding the hidden treasures of seeking God’s wisdom. 

Godly wisdom helps us to apply what we have learned by understanding how to put it into practice.  It becomes a shield that protects us from harm, pointing those who seek it to the right path. 

Wisdom will show us when to use discretion that will preserve and deliver us from evil so we may walk in the goodness of God. It will keep us blameless before the Lord, helping us to stay on the path of righteousness. 

As you study the word each day, ask God to reveal His wisdom and give you understand of the knowledge you have gained.  Ask Him to give you understand of what you read so that you value wisdom greatly and it becomes a shield that helps you walk uprightly before Him. 

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly.” (Proverbs 2:6-7 NKJV)

A Continual Harvest

 
Faith Moments Daily Bible Reading and Online Devotionals

As the summer comes to an end, we look back on how our crops may not have been as productive as hoped.  It also reminds me of a scripture that tells of another harvest that is lacking - the winning of souls to Christ.  

If we study this passage in the Bible, it tells how the prophet Jeremiah lamented over the spiritual condition of Judah when they turned to serving false gods.  Their worship was toward other things and they did not follow after the LORD.

"The harvest is past, the summer is ended, 

and we are not saved," Jeremiah 8:20

Although our summer gardening season has come to a close, the harvest of souls does not end with a season, but is to be a continual sowing and reaping of a harvest. I wonder how many of us have wept like Jeremiah because of the hearts of our nation has walked away from God?

Growers stay in hope knowing that there will be a new season for replanting and enjoying the work of their hands.  Believers too can rejoice and embrace the fall with anticipation of what the Lord has in store for His people.   As we prayerfully wait, let us share the goodness of God to the lost and bring in a continual harvest for the Lord.

Freedom to Break Every Chain

               Faith Moments Daily Bible Reading and Online Devotionals

This month our focus is on FREEDOM and what it means to break every chain, yoke and bondage that binds or holds you back from the liberty Christ gave us when He died on the cross.  It's time to take back your life and be free from sin, guilt and shame!

When God brought the Israelites out of Eqypt, He delivered them out of their distress, mistreatings, poverty and bondage.  Yet, along their journey to the new land God had set aside for them, they forgot His goodness and began to complain.  Only when they remembered the goodness of God and all He did for them did the LORD hear their prayers and cries to Him.  When God saw their hearts had repented of the sin He deliver them out of trouble.

God already knows the difficulties you may be experiencing, and He wants to help.  He wants to break every chain that has held you back, harmed you or kept you in bondage.  

"Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses.  He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces." Psalm 107:13-14

If you are in need of a breakthrough and freedom from the past, give thanks to the Lord for all the things He has already helped you through in your life.  Tell of His goodness and wondress works to those around you so that God can break every chain of bondage that is stealing His blessings from you.

"Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!  For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness." Psalm 107:8-9

The blood Jesus shed on the cross for the forgiveness of sin(s), gave us the freedom power needed to break away from all bondage of the enemy.  In Christ you are free! Free from past mistakes, failures, guilt, shame or anything else that has kept you in "chains". Trust God to release you from everything that has a hold on you and start living a life of freedom. Calvary Covers It All

   Faith Moments Daily Bible Reading and Online Devotionals

Since I was a young girl I've listened to Christian radio.  One particular program is called "Unshackled" produced at Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago, Illinois.  The program is the longest running radio drama in history and is based on true stories.

It was at this mission around 1918 where a couple named Mr. and Mrs. Walter Taylor worked, and through the power of the spoken word, salvation became real.  While on his knees during a service at the mission, Mac aka Walter or Pa, gave his life to Christ after his wife uttered four words she heard from a previous sermon ... "Calvary covers it all."

A few days later Ma Taylor entered the empty chapel, where she sat at the piano and penned this hymn, which expresses what transpired in conversation the night her husband received Christ at the mission.

"Calvary covers it all,

My past with its sin and shame;
My guilt and despair Jesus took on Him there,
And Calvary covers it all.

How matchless the grace, when I looked in the face
Of this Jesus, my crucified Lord.
My redemption complete I then found at His feet,
For Calvary covered it all."

"For everyone has sinned, we all fall short of God's glorious standard.  Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight.  He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty of our sins." (Romans 3:23-24 NLT)
