God of the Past

Verse of the Month

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
(Hebrews 13:8 NKJV)

August 1st – 7th, 2019

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 13:8 & Romans 8:28-29

God of the Past

Looking back on all the yesterdays, you may have wondered during each trial or tribulation, where God was to have allowed such things to transpire.  At some point you questioned or doubted your faith in Him.

Years later you begin to see all the pieces fall into place and how God was indeed there, even though it didn’t look like it at the time.  He was busy working things out for your good.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God,
to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might
be the firstborn among many." (Romans 8:28-29 NKJV)

Often times the Lord allows things to happen to prepare us for the future.  We have to trust that He will see us through.

When you find yourself focusing on the problems of the past, think on the words from the writer in Hebrews 13:8. Remind yourself that God has been there for you in the past, and will continue to be in the future because He never changes or goes back on a promise. (cw)
